    Pocket Plastic Surgeon: iSurgeon App

    Last updated 2 years ago

If you have ever considered plastic surgery, you may have done so with certain results in mind. Your plastic surgeon may use advanced computer imaging to help patients visualize their results before ever going under the knife. Now, with the iSurgeon Lite app, you, too, can simulate the results of procedures like a tummy tuck or face lift.

Available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, this application allows you to take your own photos into the “operating room” for virtual procedures. With two functionality modes, before & after screenshots, and the ability to share your results on your social sites, this free app is an educational and entertaining way to visualize the effects of plastic surgery.

For more information about plastic surgery and advanced computer imaging in the Houston area, please contact Dr. Scott Yarish. For more information about our services, please visit us online, or call us today at (713) 469-3449 to schedule a consultation.

    Why is Restylane So Popular?

    Last updated 2 years ago

As you age, your skin loses elasticity and the ability to reproduce collagen cells, ultimately leading to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Fortunately, the development of non-invasive treatments for signs of aging can help you look and feel younger without having to undergo a surgical procedure. Your aesthetician or plastic surgeon will help you select the best dermal filler or injectable treatment for your needs, and one option may be Restylane.

    What is Restylane?

Restylane is an FDA approved, natural cosmetic filler designed to restore fullness and volume to your skin. Made of biodegradable and biocompatible hyaluronic acid, Restylane corrects moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Because its formulation is natural and safe, there is no need to test for allergies beforehand, freeing you to see immediate results without delay.

    Candidates

When determining your Restylane candidacy, consider the areas that you want to treat. Restylane can be used to:

    • Fill deep creases and folds.
    • Eliminate laugh lines and nasal labial folds.
    • Add volume to sagging under-eye skin, under-projected cheekbones, and recessed chins.
    • Increase lip size and fullness.

Schedule a consultation with your plastic surgeon to discuss your risk factors and specific candidacy requirements.

    How it Works

Using an ultra-fine needle, your plastic surgeon or aesthetician will inject small amounts of Restylane into the middle layer of your skin. As the hyaluronic gel joins to your dermal tissue, it also begins to bind with water molecules to soften and smooth wrinkles. Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and the results lasts for 6 months or longer, twice as long as collagen treatments.

    Recovery Time

Restylane injections can be performed during a lunch hour, and many patients see immediate results. While Restylane treatments do not require a dedicated recovery period, some patients may experience minor swelling or redness. In addition to following any aftercare instructions provided by your plastic surgeon, using ice packs, cold compresses and hydrating face masks can help relieve any discomfort you may experience.

Treating Acne with Deep Facial Cleansing

    Last updated 2 years ago

In addition to over-the-counter and prescription cleansers, facials can be an effective way to exfoliate your skin and help treat facial acne.

In the video below, an aesthetician demonstrates some of the steps involved in a deep facial cleansing. Using certain products designed to treat acne can help release sebum or oil from the skin. Thoroughly cleansing the face between product applications can help each product absorb better into the skin.

Common Skin Conditions that can be Treated with Laser Skin Technology

    Last updated 2 years ago

With new developments in medicine and technology, the effectiveness and popularity of cosmetic procedures continues to rise. In addition to surgical procedures, your plastic surgeon may also offer non-invasive rejuvenation treatments to help you look and feel your best. Laser technology, in particular, can be an effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions, including:

    Sun Damage

Overexposure to the sun can cause a range of skin conditions, including discoloration, benign tumors, pre-cancerous cells, telangiectasias, elastosis, and the appearance of freckles and fine and coarse wrinkles. A common laser skin treatment known as the FotoFacial uses pulses of visible light to remove the signs of sun damage from your face, neck, and chest.

    Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles are among the most common signs of aging. Whether you have deep facial creases or sagging skin along your midsection, laser skin treatments may be the answer for you. The SkinTyte and the ProFractional Laser treatments are both designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and to tighten sagging skin for a more youthful appearance.

    Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes inflammation of the nose, cheeks, chin, forehead, or eyelids, and it often appears as redness or prominent spider-like blood vessels just under the skin. Using Laser Genesis or Laser MicroGenesis techniques, your plastic surgeon or aesthetician can safely reduce the excessive redness caused by Rosacea.

    Acne and Scars

Up to 80% of people suffer from acne at one point in their lives or another.  While some people recover from acne without permanent side-effects, others are left with severe acne scars. Specifically designed to address acne, the new N-lite Laser Acne treatment repairs the damage caused by acne infection and increases collagen growth for long lasting improvements. You might also consider a MicroLaserPeel.  The technique used for this treatment is similar to a chemical peel, and it works to smooth acne scars as well as uneven skin pigmentation.
